The Sketchbook Project 2013

I got this email from the Art House Coop.  I see that they are trying to rally more participants in the Sketchbook Project 2013 by asking us all to share this notice.  It is a fun and inexpensive way to participate in something that will potentially share each of our creative endeavours with a larger number of people.  My sketchbook has indeed already arrived and I have begun the preliminary steps to create my theme which is a Chapbook.  So far I have transcribed my meagre collection of 16 poems which are posted here. I will follow that up with supporting drawings over the next 6 months.  Did I mention the fun aspect?  I like to work on my Sketchbook Project while watching TV in the evenings; sometimes I plan what to draw, other times I just let a doodle turn into something.
The Sketchbook Project

The Sketchbook Project Needs You

We need your help: We started The Sketchbook Project six years ago with the vision of encouraging everyone to participate in art-making and be inspired by a creative community working toward the same goal. We feel proud that we have achieved that mission. We’ve shared your work on four tours across the continent. And we’ve collaborated with over 60,000 artists worldwide to archive a collection of more than 22,000 sketchbooks in the Brooklyn Art Library. It’s only with your help that we can complete this process. The Sketchbook Project only exists because of its participants. In order to preserve its equal-opportunity spirit and independent charm, we have made sure that the majority of what we build is funded by the contributing artists. Each year’s project is about 18 months of work for our tiny crew — from the initial planning stages to the final tour dates. Our team of seven people works incredibly hard to keep the project going.Waiting for a reason to join us? This is it. Without you, the project cannot continue to inspire others and share your creativity with communities around the world. The project is expensive to produce and maintain. Of course, we work hard because this is a labor of love — but we also need to have the resources to make this project sustainable. That is why The Sketchbook Project needs you. In order to maintain our standards, grow our public programs and fund next year’s tour, we need a minimum of 20,000 participants to take part. Already, more than 6,000 people from all over the world have signed up to participate. Please help us reach our goal of 20,000 creative people working together. For those of you who are already participating, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We could not do this without you! We’ll continue to archive your book, share it with the public, and make every effort to fulfill our commitment to the project. Please help spread the word to family, friends and anyone else who you think would enjoy our unique creative experience. We cannot wait to see where this project can go! We’ll do our part, if you do yours. Together, we can save The Sketchbook Project! Thanks,Steven and the Art House staff
