This was such a fun experiment. This was an abysmal photograph of a wonderful senior dog that boarded with us quite often in the last two years of his life. In the photo his eyes were a total loss…very black with ghostly greenish centers. I had to start in Photoshop by recreating his eyes completely by painting them a rich brown, giving them a deep black pupil and highlights. Then it was a matter of selecting the oil paint filter and manipulating the settings until I was happy with the look. I can see where I need to practice with the painting tools to achieve smoother, rounder eye shapes…that is all part of the process of learning and some day mastering this artistic tool.
